How the partial government shutdown affects our existing customers
Now in its fifth week, the partial government shutdown has officially become the longest such shutdown in U.S. history, which has prompted an increasing number of our valued customers to inquire about whether Nutter is providing any special relief to those affected by the government shutdown. The answer is yes!
If you’re a federal government employee who’s been furloughed or forced to work without pay, or you’re an unpaid government contractor, rest assured we’re here to help you and we have special policies in place to help guide you through this unfortunate situation*:
No late charges will be assessed for payments we receive from you after January 15, 2019 if your account was paid current in December 2018. If the shutdown should continue into February 2019 or beyond, the same policy will apply.
Your credit rating will not be affected by late payments. Nutter will not report your account as delinquent to the credit bureaus if we receive a late payment from you after the 30th of the month.
A Special Repayment Plan will be made available to you if you’re forced to miss a payment. Please contact our Default Counseling Department at (800) 943-7334 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
If you’re facing a more severe delinquency, be sure and complete our Loss Mitigation Packet to see if you’re eligible for a loan modification or other long-term solution. Our Default Counseling Representatives are standing by to help you at (800) 943-7334.
Your loan will not be referred for foreclosure during the duration of the shutdown.
IMPORTANT - Eligible Customers Will Need to Provide Proof of Federal Employment
In order to be eligible for the special relief provisions detailed above, you will need to furnish documentation to us that verifies you’re a federal employee or an unpaid government contractor. Examples of documentation would include a copy of one (1) of the following:
- Paystub (October 2018 - December 2018)
- Bank Statement (October 2018 - December 2018)
- Government ID
- W-2 Statement (if available)
- Proof that you’re a government contractor
We sympathize with our customers who are federal employees and whose paychecks have been withheld pending a resolution of this dispute. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at (800) 943-7334 or email email@example.com. Thank you again for your business!
